In recent years, the U.S. and Europe have begun using wood chips to replace plastic and other materials that are falling out of use.
The wood chips are the oldest and most popular wood substitute available, and many are also widely used in products like carpets and wood furniture.
The chips have become so popular that they have become part of everyday life, said Kristin Dufault, the director of sustainability for the Wood Foundation, a nonprofit group that promotes the use of recycled materials.
Wood chips, which are available at many home improvement stores and online, are also becoming increasingly popular in the automotive industry, Dufaults said.
But they are also now being used for other products.
Woodchip is made of cellulose, the same molecule that makes wood.
It’s one of the best-tasting materials on Earth, said Dufaux, who added that wood chips can be used for building materials and as a food additive.
But when wood chips become an integral part of our daily lives, the wood chip industry needs to change, said Scott Scholz, the executive director of the Wood Institute.
Wood chip manufacturing is not a viable business model for the wood industry because of the cost of raw materials and labor, he said.
Companies that use wood chips in their products have been accused of dumping toxic chemicals into rivers and groundwater, including arsenic and lead.
Dufais said the industry needs more stringent regulations to keep wood chips out of the environment and from endangering aquatic life.
“We want to make sure that we’re protecting the water,” she said.
“That’s a very big deal for us.”
The wood industry has struggled to adapt to the rapid growth of wood chips, with the wood chips’ popularity declining.
Wood industry groups say there is a growing trend for consumers to prefer wood chips over plastic.
Dafault said that when people hear the word “paper,” they tend to think of paper products.
The Wood Foundation’s Wood Chip program helps retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and restaurants and restaurants to educate consumers about wood chips and their benefits.
Consumers who buy wood chips also can use the product to create furniture, which is a big advantage, said Schol, the Wood institute’s executive director.
Companies have started marketing wood chips as eco-friendly and as the perfect substitute for plastic and wood.
“There are a lot of reasons people are looking for wood chips,” said Schoch, the senior vice president of the National Wood Chips Association.
“I would hope that the woodchip industry would embrace this.”
